    On April 23rd, 2024, at approximately 2355 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted 28-year-old Soldotna resident Leila Nath on a traffic stop. Subsequent investigation determined Nath was driving under the influence.  She was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial for DUI.

    Dispatch Text:

    On 04/24/24 at 1830 hours, AST and EMS responded to a residence in Talkeetna for the report of an unresponsive male. The male was pronounced deceased, and investigation continues into the manner of death. Next of kin was on scene and the SME took possession of the remains.

    Type: DV Criminal Mischief 3 & Assault 4

    On 4/23/2024 at approximately 2021 hours, AST received a report of a disturbance at a residence on Cayuga Avenue in Palmer.  AST responded and investigation revealed that Blayke Brower, age 26 of Palmer, damaged mutual property inside the residence and assaulted a family member.  Blayke was arrested and remanded to MSPT, where he was held without bail.

    On 4/24/24 at approximately 0720 hours AST received a report of a possible disturbance on E Cottle Loop, in Wasilla. AST responded and identified Jordan Lampley, age 22, of Eagle River. An investigation revealed Jordan had driven to the location while under the influence of alcohol. Jordan was placed under arrest and remanded to MSPT under the charges of DUI and a probation violation, with no set bail.

    On 04/24/24 at 1610 hours, AST performed a traffic stop on a blue 2018 Chevy pick-up for speeding near mile 85 of the Parks Highway in Willow. Investigation revealed Bradley Cave was driving while his license was revoked. Cave was issued a misdemeanor citation for the original charge of Driving While License Revoked with a mandatory court appearance at a later date.

    Type: Aircraft Crash

    Update: April 24, 2024. Conditions at the crash site remain difficult due to thin ice and open water hindering recovery efforts. Recovery efforts by Troopers with the assistance of PAWS will resume today. The remains that have been recovered will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification. The NTSB is on scene and is working to determine the cause of the crash. People should continue to avoid the area.

     

    Update: April 23, 2024. At 10:03 AM on April 23, 2024, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received reports of an aircraft crash around seven miles south of the Fairbanks International Airport on the Tanana River. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Douglas DC-4 crashed into the Tanana River after taking off from Fairbanks International Airport at 9:55 am with two people on board. The aircraft slid into a steep hill on the bank of the river where it caught fire. No survivors have been located. The NTSB is responding to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash. The Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, DPS HELO 2, University of Alaska Police, Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire, Fairbanks Police Department, Esther Volunteer Fire Department, Chena Goldstream Volunteer Fire Department, and RCC responded to the scene.

    Original: The Alaska State Troopers and our local, state, and federal partners are responding to a plane crash on the Tanana River near Kallenberg Road in Fairbanks. The plane is a Douglas DC-4. Please avoid the area and expect an increased first responder presence in the area. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
